New Generation Planning at TimkenSteel

William P. Bryan, EVP Manufacturing & Supply Chain, TimkenSteel

William J. Kerr, Project Manager Supply Chain Systems, TimkenSteel

TimkenSteel became the pioneer of so-called Advanced Planning (APS) in the early nineties by implementing the first commercially successful first-generation APS solution. In recent years, TimkenSteel carried out a total innovation of its planning system by implementing a New Generation Planning project with the LOGIS company and achieved very interesting results.

How does the company, in which APS was born, benefit from a total innovation of its planning system, during which revolutionary planning technologies designed for demanding planning environments were deployed?

Company-Wide Planning Project

Koichiro Kishimoto, General Manager, Business Process Innovation Team, JFE Steel

Takahiro Okawara, Deputy Manager, Business Process Innovation Team, JFE Steel

Company-Wide Planning is one of the key projects focused on planning that JFE Steel implements in relation to its Business Process Innovation. The supplier and partner for implementing this project is LOGIS with its product LOGIS Production Planner, extended by LOGIS Development Studio.

The course of this demanding vendor selection tender confirmed that LOGIS owns highly advanced planning technologies that are especially useful in demanding planning environments distinctive by extensive scope, complexity and uniqueness, all of which are typically present in steel manufacturing environments. LOGIS Development Studio, which is one of the components of the solution, has been proven by development and implementation of the Hot Strip Mill scheduler in Kurashiki Works, one of the key plants of JFE Steel.
